Lisa offers yoga therapy by appointment in Hampstead. Office hours are normally Thursday and Friday daytimes. Consultations may be possible by arrangement for other times and locations. For certain time slots there is a waiting list.
Based on nearly 20 years of practice and teaching experience since 2002, Lisa designs a course of study tailored to the aspects of practice + life that you wish to explore. Together with Lisa you assess and build upon your unique strengths and needs.
Yoga therapy will leave you feeling better and more empowered to care for yourself. By request, Lisa will create session notes to help you to remember what you learnt and parlay this into a personal practice that suits your life. The best use of one to one yoga with Lisa is made when you are willing to practice, even a bit, between sessions. The results of personal attention and personal practice of just a few minutes a day can be incredible.
Individual lessons are normally one hour and can involve:
yoga for insomnia- Lisa is the leading authority on yoga therapy for insomnia, having authored a book and taught professional trainings peer reviewed by medical doctors, yoga teachers, and psychotherapists (publication due 2019, Singing Dragon);
teacher trainee and yoga teacher/ yoga therapist mentoring;
adjunct supervision and mentoring on somatic work for psychotherapists and counsellors;
yoga therapeutics- addressing injuries, pain or alignment difficulties from a holistic body-mind-spirit perspective, with development of a personal therapeutic practice.
The tuition process:
After the initial session, you may continue on an ongoing basis with regular sessions. Greatest progress is made when sessions are regularly timed and momentum can build. Most of Lisa’s private clients/ students book class packs of 6 sessions to ensure continuity or work towards particular objectives.
Counselling and Psychotherapy
Lisa has undertaken studies in transpersonal counselling and psychotherapy, which sees our thoughts and habits in the context of our soul-nature, on the understanding that human beings have a tacit or explicit connection to spirituality- whatever form that may take. In practice, Lisa works with clients on solving practical problems and shifting long held patterns informed by soulful perspective. This involves a weekly chat that is both compassionate and challenging, often over a cup of tea. Nothing like the old school Freudian blank-slate. Lisa interacts with you, as you work with your creative imagination to form a deep understanding of your life, using your body’s wisdom to heal and transform the habits of your mind and emotions. In a warm and inviting environment-one that is also professionally boundaried - we can be ourselves, and we flourish. When undertaking the ‘deeper work’ things can surface that make yoga, breath work and meditation helpful tools to assist with the transformative process.
