Yoga Therapy for Insomnia and Sleep Recovery Yogacampus, Finsbury Park London Friday 16th to Tuesday 20th November 2018 10.00 to 18.00 each day
Prior to launching my upcoming book, I'm offering a teacher and practitioner training in Yoga Therapy for Insomnia and Sleep Recovery (a term I coined in 2018).
This 5 day course offers a yoga therapy approach to managing insomnia. Lisa Sanfilippo’s Yoga Therapy for Insomnia and Sleep Recovery is a unique synthesis of simple, essential yoga-based knowledge, tools and resources to help people to sleep better, recover from insomnia and feel more alert.
With contributions from Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Shivanthi Sathanandan, and a detailed training manual, this course provides both the theoretical and practical training necessary to teach yoga classes, courses and one to ones for those experiencing sleep problems. Sessions will include asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, marma points, mudra and consultation on healthy sleep habits. You will learn to tailor what you offer to individual needs and to work with different body-mind sleep ‘types.’
Learn to support healthy sleep through holistic yoga practices. There will be opportunities for teaching practice, as well as an informal assessment on the final day.
Each day will include a practice of the techniques being learnt, including asana (hatha and restorative), pranayama, meditation, and more so that you have direct experience of all the practices that you are offering to others. We will follow the sleep-wake guidance we will give to others in how we approach the training day. Many who take the course notice that their sleep improves whether they are ‘insomniac’ or not!
Course outline and detailled prospectus is found on the Yogacampus web site for which the link is below.
The course will address the following topics: • Trouble getting to sleep • Waking in the middle of the night • Waking too early • Sleeping too short or too long • Daytime exhaustion
We will discuss the relationship of sleep recovery techniques to issues such as: • Adrenal fatigue/ burnout • Mom (and Dad)somnia – parental sleeplessness • Mental health and sleep problems • Identifying post-traumatic insomnia • Coping with menopause-related sleep issues
In addition to specific skills for dealing with sleep related issues, participants will also learn a therapeutic approach to yoga teaching that includes an assessment of the 5 kosas, simple restorative yoga, and basic assessment skills. By the end of the course, students will also be equipped to teach 4-6 weeks courses on Sleep Recovery. If you are already qualified as a yoga teacher, you will receive a Yoga Therapy for Insomnia and Sleep Recovery Certificate and will be eligible for listing in the online directory of Yoga for Sleep Recovery Specialists upon satisfactory completion of a knowledge assessment on the final day of training.

Triyoga Teacher Training Diploma (390 hours) Triyoga Soho, London June 2018 - June 2020
I am collaborating with Erika Tourell to lead the Triyoga teacher training diploma course (intake 23) from June 2018 through 2020.
The 24 month (390 hour) teacher training diploma course covers asana, pranayama, philosophy, anatomy and physiology plus a mentoring and professional supervision programme to provide support in the transition from student to professional yoga teacher. My role is not only in instructing and teaching how to explain asana and pranayama. It involves helping others to develop their insight, perspective and voice first, and then to offer yoga's power and potential onward. This is challenging, transformative work. Pedagogy, learning and developing language and skill help us to lead others into their own exploration. This is a profound passion for me.
In this, I will offer ongoing yoga teacher training, adjunct to the Triyoga TT, both at Triyoga and elsewhere to help develop the breadth and depth of new and experienced teachers.
